How to tell if AI is lying
This question was asked by Graham, a musician with 50 years of playing keyboard instruments about Gen AI:
𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘧 𝘈𝘐 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴?
When you're dealing with AI output, here's the real talk: you can't just take what it gives you as gospel.
A lot of people new to this stuff think they can just hit a button and whatever pops out is golden, but that's just not how it works.
It's easy to see how they'd fall into that trap - there's so much hype about AI taking over %50 of all jobs.
You've always got to be the "human in the loop," checking things over.
Think of it like this: whether you're just trying to gather some quick info or you're digging into data to draw some conclusions, you never, ever take it at face value.
It doesn't matter how advanced AI gets; you treat it the same way you'd treat any assistant you're working with.
You always double-check their work.
We don't blindly trust every piece of information we get from other people, and the exact same rule applies to anything an AI provides.
